Want to really celebrate your special day in style? The hauntingly romantic sound of the Scottish pipes is guaranteed to bring out the best in your wedding celebrations.

There's little doubt that the pipes will add a stirring atmosphere to any event - and none more so than a wedding. Over the last 200 years pipers have been entertaining at weddings and never has it been more popular than now to be 'piped' in to your venue. We'll try and share with you a range of possible ways in which you can creatively incorporate the pipes into your special day.  ug

We are proud to provide you with the very best in bagpipers and bagpipe music. Our service is tailored to meet your needs - from the tunes we play, to the amounts we play of them. Indeed, we'll even give you the opportunity to decide on the regalia or uniformed dress that you would like your piper to wear on your special day.

Although, our pipers specialise in traditional Scottish wedding music, it's possible for us to combine traditional with modern and to personalise your repertoire on request. Feel free to delight us with your particular celebration requests!

How best to use a piper on your wedding day:

As a surprise 'wake up' call on the morning of your wedding.
At the ceremony venue - before, during and after the service.
During the photographs - to keep guests entertained!
Welcoming your guests to the reception venue.
Piping the bride, groom and top table guests to their seats.
To announce the speeches or to mark the cutting of the cake.

Wedding 'wake up' call:

What a wonderful surprise as your 'spouse-to-be' is awakened by the stirring sounds of a Scottish piper on the morning of her or his wedding ...... and your neighbours will enjoy finding out that your special day has truly begun in style! The heart-rendering sounds of our piper drawing attention to the fact that this is the day you are starting the journey to the rest of your life.

You'll also be following in Royal tradition.
It's a rarely known fact that the Queen is awakened by the sound of the Scottish pipes every morning whenever she is residence at Balmoral Castle.

 Piping the bridal car:

You may also want to consider 'piping the bride' as she walks from her front door to the wedding car. This is a particularly popular request - and again you'll be the talk of your street.

Wedding venue:

Your guests will be welcomed to your church or venue by the lilting, inviting sounds of the Scottish pipes. Our pipers are always immaculately presented in the very best kilted, uniformed regalia - as is fitting for such a great occasion. If you wish, we can include a full plaid with polished Cairngorm brooch in our uniform. Indeed, we can even wear a head-turning, full-sized feather bonnet at your request!

Arrival of the bride:

Once your guests are seated, the piper then proudly announces the arrival of the bride in a beautiful, inspiring and uplifting manner.

Your piper can play the bride down the isle with any tune, although generally the 'Wedding March' or 'Highland Cathedral' is the most popular choice. This makes an enchanting and interesting alternative to the more conventional wedding organ music.

Ceremony pipe music:

During the ceremony there's a variety of wedding pipe music that you can choose . Some of our classics include, 'Silver Threads Among the Gold', 'Ave Maria', 'Highland Cathedral', 'She Walks Through the Fair' and 'Lark in the Clear Air' - to name but a few. Be sure to discuss your requirements with us in advance and we'll do our best to fulfill them.

Would you like to be 'piped' during the signing of the register or when you leave the ceremony and walk to your wedding car? Our pipers will be happy to play the pipes as and when you want them played at your venue.

Wedding Reception:

Imagine your guests arriving at the hotel or reception venue whilst the stirring sounds of your bagpiper fill the air? As they enter, we'll entertain you with enchanting melodies such as 'Highland Wedding' or 'Mairi's Wedding' whilst you enjoy your pre-dinner drinks and canapes. Our wedding bagpipers will add an inspiring, romantic atmosphere as your reception and entertainment proper starts to unfold.

Your wedding day is all about great 'memories in the making' and the unique sounds of the highland pipes will certainly add that special something to your continuing celebrations. Dressed in full regalia, our piper will play tasteful background music that is fitting for each stage of your reception.

Want to include our piper in photographs?

Remember that our bagpipers are approachable and are more than happy to have their pictures taken at any time during the day - at no extra charge. Indeed, you may want to include our piper in your official wedding photographs or in the DVD footage. That's fine with us! Scottish Wedding Pipers pride themselves in being sociable and accommodating and we love nothing better than to socialise and share our knowledge of piping when asked to do so. Some of our most memorable wedding feedback has been from our non-Scottish guests. Contrary to popular belief, the English do love the pipes!

Standard Wedding Options:

Ceremony - Attendance time: 1-2 hours:

Piping at your ceremony whenever required. This includes:

Piping the arrival of your guests.
Piping the bride and groom from the church or venue.
Piping for your guests whilst the register is being signed or photographs taken.
Appearances in photographs if and when requested.

You may also include the following if you so wish:

Piping the groom and the best man to their seats.
Piping the bride 'down the aisle' or bride and groom 'back up' the aisle.
Piping a haunting instrumetal piece as an interlude during the service.

To avoid 'overkill', we recommend making a selection from the above activities. You may want to include other types of musical entertainment to mark the varying stages of your wedding ceremony, such as a harpist, string quartet or organist. We can recommend popular options and musicians to you if you would like us to do so.

Reception - Attendance time: 1-2 hours

This generally will include:

Piping the arrival of your guests into the venue.
Piping the bridal line-up.
Piping the bride and groom to the top table.
Piping the exit of the newly married couple.

You might also want to include other piping duties, such as playing whilst you are cutting the wedding cake or using the pipes to announce the start of the speeches. The choice is entirely yours.

Ceremony & Reception - Attendance time: 2-4 hours

Please note that the standard ceremony and reception service is with one location in mind, such as a castle, golf club or hotel - and assuming the reception starts soon after the wedding ceremony.

However, we can combine a ceremony venue with a reception venue farther afield provided additional time is allowed for when you confirm your booking.

Other Wedding Requests:

We've listed the standard services available from Scottish Wedding Pipers. However, we're aware that a wedding day is a truly unique event and provided it's planned well in advance, we can adapt our repertoire to include your personal, special requests.

Such personal requests could include:

Piping a 'wake up' call to the bride or groom as a wedding morning surprise.
Piping a 'wake up' call to the newly weds outside their honeymoon suite.
Piping off the bridal car from the ceremony venue.
Piping the guests on the wedding morning - if they're staying at the venue.
Piping to announce the start of the speeches, cutting of the cake, or the start of your ceilidh.
