Any Scottish dance band is only as good as its caller. Donald & Tony, leaders and callers with Scotland's Ceilidh Band, have each had twenty years experience in the Scottish traditional music arena. There are few bands that can compete with this level of skill and experience.

There are several different line-ups to choose from depending on your event and your budget. You can choose from a 2-piece to a 4 or 5-piece band. If you prefer particular type of musician, tell us and we’ll do our best to make your wishes come true. Every one of our musicians and dance callers have been specially trained to play to the audience, not just to perform competently. Traditional music is our specialty. If you need background music or anything instrumental, we can meet your needs.

We take a lot of pride in our professional presentation and performance… our musicians are always dressed appropriately, frequently wearing tartan. We won’t blast you out of the room. You’ll notice that our band’s volume, while exciting enough to encourage everyone to dance, is also comfortable enough for conversation. Your event will be unique… every event we do is different and personalized especially for each audience.

Our job is to create the perfect atmosphere and make sure everyone has a great time. It is not enough to be a good musician. Our skills also help create that unique party atmosphere using highly skilled ‘calling’ and involving every guest. This is where we excel, while other bands may struggle with this task.

Choosing the right entertainment for a wedding reception can be intimidating and time-consuming. You may like one type of band, but will this suit most of your guests? What age range will be at the reception? How big is the venue that you’ve booked for the wedding and reception?

From the moment we confirm your booking to the time we arrive at your venue, we’ve got only your needs and interests at heart. At Scotland’s Ceilidh Band we will do all we can to create your Scottish wedding ceilidh to meet your expectations for your most special day. Be sure and let us know of any special requests… we’re happy to include special songs for your first dance, your last waltz or anything in between. Some people like to include a short time during the reception for special guests to sing a song or two. If you request, we’ll also make sure that Uncle Bertie only gets one ballad, too!

Have you considered having a wedding ceilidh disco? They’re becoming ever more popular with 21st century weddings. If you are interested in this option, we can split the evening into 50/50, so half is disco music and half is ceilidh. Our special digital sound and high performance lighting equipment will easily enable us to move easily from “Dashing White Sergeant” to “Dancing Queen” without a hitch. Our Ceilidh-Discos are becoming more popular all the time because of the variety of music and the different styles of dancing. You have the option of providing us with a play list of all your favorites… and please, tell us which songs you really don’t want sung on your special day.

Scotland’s Ceilidh Band has some of the top traditional musicians in the country in it – keyboard, accordion, drum, flautists, fiddlers and guitarist. Most of our band has played in ceilidh bands since they were very young and can play by ear as well as being well-educated in reading and performing music. The ceilidh band organizers, Donald and Tony, have been playing music since they were small children and have played music together for the last fifteen years. Both Tony and Donald share their experience with the other members of the band – old and young alike – which has resulted in consistent performances whenever Scotland’s Ceilidh Band is hired.

Our typical 3-piece ceilidh band will include an accordion, a fiddler and a drum, while our typical 2-piece group will have an accordion and either a drum or fiddle. Usually, the most accomplished outgoing personality will take the role of ‘caller’ and happily guide you and your partygoers through a variety of waltzes, reels, jigs and marches. Every one of our callers has been trained professionally to the highest standard and can accommodate dancers from beginners to advanced. We use radio-microphones to help us walk you through the steps as needed… all while we do the talking.
